Santa Barbara, Iloilo Golf Course

Santa Barbara, Iloilo Golf Course

Santa Barbara, Iloilo Golf Club and Course. On Easter, 2009 we had to take our son to the Iloilo airport to begin his journey back to the U.S. after his almost two month stay with us.  The golf course is not far from the new Iloilo airport so we decided to take this opportunity to take a look at the club.  Our timing proved to be serendipitous.  The course was closed for the Easter holiday but the gate was wide open, so we wandered in strolled around and took a few photos.  The course and the surroundings are just beautiful — big old trees, pretty paths to stroll.  Despite my father’s best efforts, I’m not a golfer so I can’t evaluate the course from a golfer’s perspective but it seems an idyllic place to stroll, club in hand.

Adjoining the Santa Barbara Golf Course is a very attractive subdivision under development.  It’s one of the nicest subdivisions we’ve seen and should be high on the list for golfers (or anyone else) looking for property in the Iloilo area.

    • Tom,

My experience is limited but less expensive (or failing) subdivisions seem to allow just about anything whereas upscale subdivisions may impose minimum size requirements. Just check the restrictions before you buy. Don’t expect restrictions to protect you from what your neighbors may do. We had a friend who had a nice house in a good subdivision in Cebu City. The subdivision rules forbade livestock, but his neighbor had roosters. As a practical matter, there was nothing he could do about it.

  3. Yes, the Santa Barbara Golf Course is like stepping into another world and gives a preview of how even more spectacular things could be in the Philippines with good planning and protection of open space and natural resources.

My son Jacob had a good time, especially Boracay. He was a bit bored in Tigbauan.
