“A lot of the foreigners killed or kidnapped of recent in the Philippines, are Punjabis from India. They engage in illegal money lending, often arrive into the Philippines without the proper papers, smuggled in through human smuggling syndicates in cahoots with local authorities. Punjabi ethnic group, largely uneducated from the villages of Punjab, comprising of Sikhs and Hindus from north West India have had internal fighting in the Philippines for a long time. Punjabi ethnic gangs have formed strong links with local Filipino gangs, where they kill rival money lenders, kidnap them for ransom etc, knowing they won’t turn to police for help. Punjabi ganglords in the Philippines apart from killing their own Punjabi community members have also now turned to killing other ethnic groups from India such as the Business oriented Sindhis, and in some case engaged in business attacks on middle eastern businessmen such as Iranians and Arabs in certain parts of the Philippines. It has come to a severe situation that few years ago, members of the Indian community met with a senior government secretary to seek protection. More than 600 Indians have been shot dead with half of the murders, organized by Indian gang lords in the Philippines in collaboration with corrupt officials and local Filipino gangs.”
